Women Leaders in Oncology

1.1

Recognition. Community.
Investment in the future of oncology.

Founded in 2014 by Vaniam Group CEO Deanna B. van Gestel, FASCO, Women Leaders in Oncology (WLO) recognizes and elevates women shaping the future of oncology research and care, and brings together the community of leaders, allies, and advocates committed to advancing them.

For more than a decade, WLO has become a defining gathering place for the oncology community, a recognized presence at ASCO, a platform for the conversations that matter, and a sustained investment in the next generation of women in oncology research.

A flagship moment at ASCO.

Every year, WLO hosts its signature event during ASCO — convening women and allies alongside their colleagues, mentors, and advocates from across research, clinical care, biopharma, and patient advocacy. It is one of the most anticipated gatherings of the conference, and a reflection of the relationships WLO has built across the field.

The WLO endowed Young Investigator Award.

WLO has funded 19 Young Investigator Awards since 2014, recognizing promising women oncologists at pivotal moments in their research careers. WLO is actively fundraising the last year of a 5-year endowment target of $1.35 million to fund future awards in perpetuity.

Built by the oncology community, for the oncology community

WLO reflects what Vaniam Group has always stood for: deep relationships in the oncology community, a commitment to the people advancing the science, and the belief that recognition, mentorship, and investment can make an impact.

It belongs to everyone working to advance the future of oncology — the women whose work it celebrates, and the colleagues, mentors, and allies who walk alongside them.
